Coney Island, New York
As you approach Coney Island by car, foot, or train, your first clue that you are nearing the famous boardwalk is the Parachute Jump tower. Our proposed Parachute Pavilion creates a destination to discover as a reward for following the neighborhood beacon.
Wrapped in a bright orange undulating skin the pavilion creates a sense of the excitement that has been part of Coney Island for over a hundred years. Serving as a lantern to attract the passerby from the beachfront and main boardwalk, the pavilion sits elevated above the boardwalk, providing a vantage point for the beach, boardwalk and the tower immediately next to it.
